Pericles Papapetropoulos

Pericles Papapetropoulos was born in Athens but grew up in Crete. He was introduced to the Cretan musical tradition and when he was 16 years old he participated in festivals as a member of Psarantonis's band, playing the lute and bulgari. In 1985, he met with Ross Daly and studied saz and tambur next to him, while he also became a permanent contributor to his music lab "Labyrinth". As a member of "Labyrinth" he participated in concerts, recordings and TV productions in Greece and abroad. He is an experienced teacher in saz and lavta. He teaches at the Experimental Music School of Pallini, at the Labyrinth Music Lab and in the Community of dissemination of Traditional Music. He has many well-known students who are today the most recognized soloists of traditional instruments in Greece. He has recorded 2 solo albums and has established a saz player orchestra, playing music from Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria. He plays with various ensembles and musicians in concerts and recordings in Greece and abroad. He is a permanent member of Ross Daly's music group "Labyrinth" and performs concerts with his own group "Saz Grubu".
