Giovannangelo de Gennaro

Giovannangelo de Gennaro began studying the flute at the age of 8. He then attended the Conservatoire Nicholas Piccinni and graduated flute class. His research immerses itself in the practice of Italian and Spanish medieval music. He studied medieval music at the Royaumont Foundation in Paris, Schola Cantorum Basilensis, he attended classes at the Renaissance Music School in Erice, music and ars nova with conductor Pedro Memelsdoff in Bologna and later CIRMA Moissac under the conductor Marcel Peres where he studied monody and sacred pluralism from the 7th up to the 14th century. On his musical journey he met great teachers from around the world of world music: Ustad Nustrat Fateh Ali Khan (Pakistan), Jamal Oassini (Morocco), Michel Godard (France), Linda Bsiri (France - Malta), Kudzi Erguner (Turkey), Bob Mecferrin (United States), Sufi Brotherhood of Sfax (Tunisia), Begonia Olavide (Spain), Arash Yari (Iran), Ramiro Amusategui (Argentina-Spain) and Lykourgos Angelopoulos (Greece). He played for the Womad 2018 Festival in Santiago, Chile. He recently participated in the East Meets West tour in Morocco with American singer Josephine Foster. He recorded the last recording project as a solo artist VIA Sonore of Wanderer, distributed by Radici Music Records.
